Teaching Assistant Apprentice

Your duties will include:

Assist in the educational and social development of groups of pupils and individual pupils under the direction and guidance of the class teachers and senior leadership team as approved by the Headteacher Assist in the implementation of Individual and Group Education Programmes for pupils and help to record and monitor their progress Provide targeted intervention for individual pupils or small groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom, as directed by the class teachers and senior leadership time, to enable them to fully participate in activities Assist class teachers with maintaining student records Implement strategies, as directed by the class teachers and SENCO, to help pupils with behaviour, emotional and social difficulties Prepare and present work books and displays of pupils' work as directed by the class teacher Support class teachers in photocopying and other tasks in order to support teaching Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance Attend team meetings Be prepared to undertake further training Follow the school’s safeguarding procedures appropriately Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety

The Newent Grammar School was founded in 1925 and was originally located at the crossroads in the building that is now the Community Centre. On 1st April 1965, Newent School was founded and moved into Gloucestershire’s first purpose-built comprehensive school on its current site.

The school maintains a continuous programme of refurbishment and improvement. Recent projects have included the refurbishment of the school’s kitchen and "Meet n Eat" facility, window replacements, and a comprehensive CCTV system.

Working Hours :
Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 3.20pm breaks and lunches unpaid. (Term time only plus 5 days INSET) 39 weeks in total.
