Horticulture Apprentice
Maintain walled garden, including vegetable beds
Maintain herbaceous beds and formal areas, including weeding, staking, pruning etc
Lawn maintenance, including feeding, renovation, mowing etc
Work to clear overgrown areas and develop new garden areas
Propagation of plants
Planting and maintenance of new planted areas, including composting and mulching
Maintaining a high level of Health and Safety
Working with volunteers and a charity supporting young people in gardening
Assisting with house and garden tours if needed
Training:
Standard Name and Level Horticulture Operative Level 2
Delivery method – dedicated Performance Coach
Once a week at Merrist Wood College
Length of programme: 24 months
Functional Skills Maths and English if necessary
Training Outcome:
Possible long-term position in the garden team continuing to develop the gardens.

Help to bring a garden back to life! Join a small team, working and learning in a 21 acre garden that is being restored and rediscovered, attached to a historical arts and crafts house.
Working Hours :
Number of Hours: 30. Working days: Monday to Friday. Lunch break length: 1hr. Start Time: 8am. Finish Time: 2pm.
