Early Years Apprentice (Level 3)

Key Responsibilities of this role is to provide effective support for both individual students and small groups during focused learning activities. Working under the guidance of teachers, as well as independently, you will contribute to the social, academic, moral, physical, and emotional development of each child, both inside and outside the classroom.

 

Principle Responsibilities:

Supervising and providing support under the direction of a teacher, for pupils, including those with additional needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities. Preparing and using equipment and resources required to meet the lesson plans and relevant learning activity and assisting pupils in their use. Ensuring all pupils have appropriate access to opportunities to learn and develop. Encouraging pupils to interact with others and engage in activities. Providing feedback to pupils and parents in relation to the progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher. Creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils’ work. Using strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils in achieving learning goals. Assisting with the planning and preparation of learning activities.
Monitoring pupils’ response to learning activities and accurately record achievement and progress as directed. Provide regular feedback to teachers on pupil achievement, progress, problems etc. Assisting with the supervision of pupils outside lesson times; including lunch and play times. Promoting good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour. Participating in any training and development activities to maintain own professional development or to enhance competence within the job role. Undertake any duties (particularly playground & dining room) and responsibilities commensurate with the post. To assist with whole school activities such as Sports’ Day etc. Maintain good order and promote self-discipline amongst pupils, safeguarding their health and safety both when on school premises and when they are engaged in authorised school activities elsewhere. Deal appropriately with sickness and injury. Treat pupils with respect and compassion. Encourage respect for self, others and the environment of the school.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

To have a working knowledge of all relevant Policies and Procedures. To establish effective working relationships with professional colleagues and other staff, as appropriate. To observe and manage all Health and Safety requirements to maintain a safe environment for students, colleagues and parents. To demonstrate a desire to widen knowledge by attending relevant professional development as appropriate. To understand the relevance and importance of Customer Service and the need to promote the school positively at all times, especially to parents.

Qualification:

Level 3 Apprenticeships Standard in Early Years Educator- https://www.instituteforapprenticeships.org/apprenticeship-standards/early-years-educator-v1-2 Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce. Level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths (if required). Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid.

Delivery Method:

A mixture of blended learning in the work place and taught delivery every other Friday at Loughborough College.

Training Outcome:

There may be an opportunity for the Apprentice Teaching Assistant to continue at Fairfield if there was a vacancy at the end of the apprenticeship.

Loughborough Schools Foundation is a charitable foundation of independent schools in the heart of Loughborough, educating children from 3 to 18 years. In addition, the Loughborough Nursery (6 weeks - 4 years) is our day nursery. The role will be based at our Fairfield Prep School, an independent day school for boys and girls aged 3-11.

Working Hours :
Monday - Friday. 1 position: 7.30am-3.00pm 1 position: 10.30am-6.00pm
