Technical Operations Manager - Solar farms

Climate17 are supporting a leading European renewable energy company operating as an independent power producer who are focused on the development, ownership, and long-term operation of solar PV and energy storage assets across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
They are actively searching for a Technical Operations Manager to oversee the safe, compliant, and high-performing operation across their portfolio of operational solar assets.
Responsibilities
Act as the technical authority for solar PV operations across the portfolioOversee HV and LV operations, including switching, isolation, and system controlDrive optimal plant performance through proactive monitoring and maintenance strategiesSupport the development and continuous improvement of SCADA and asset management systemsCoordinate planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and corrective works in line with SLAsManage subcontractors and service providers to ensure high-quality O&M deliveryOversee onboarding of new assets, including inspections, snagging, and remediationImplement predictive maintenance (PdM) strategies to minimise downtime and improve performanceEnsure compliance with all relevant electrical, regulatory, and safety standardsMaintain and promote a strong Health & Safety culture across all sitesWork with Authorising Engineers to ensure HV compliance and governanceLead incident investigations and implement corrective actionsAct as the primary technical point of contact for internal teams and external stakeholdersProvide regular reporting on asset performance, maintenance activities, and risksCollaborate with engineering, commercial, and analytics teams to optimise outcomesMentor and develop engineers and technicians, particularly in HV competenciesSupport training and progression of Authorised PersonsPromote operational best practices and continuous improvement
Requirements
Proven experience in solar PV operations and maintenance (utility-scale preferred)Strong background in HV operations (ideally up to 132kV)Experience managing contractors and/or engineering teamsFamiliarity with battery energy storage systems (BESS) is advantageousDemonstrated ability to improve asset performance and operational efficiencyDegree, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related disciplineHV Authorised Person (SAP/AP) or equivalent certificationInspection & Testing qualification (e.g. C&G 2391 or equivalent) preferredExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsAbility to work autonomously in a remote environmentCommercial awareness with understanding of O&M contracts
