Metal Fabricator Apprentice

Learn and apply fabrication techniques such as cutting, bending, and welding. Work with a range of metals, including steel and aluminium. Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Use hand tools, machinery, and computer-controlled equipment safely and effectively. Assist in assembling, joining, and finishing metal components. Follow health and safety guidelines and comply with environmental regulations. Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality and compliance standards. Maintain a clean and organised workspace.

Training:

You will be required to attend college full-time during term time in your first year, returning to the workplace outside these dates.

After the first year, you will move to a rotating shift pattern: 5 days on, 3 days off, averaging 39.5 hours per week. Shifts run from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Weekend and bank holiday work is required.

During this period, you will also attend college one day per week.



Training Outcome:

You will become a Trainee Fabrication Mechanical Engineer once the apprenticeship has been completed.
