Apprentice Welder

What you will be doing:

Assist in welding tasks while learning the trade under the guidance of experienced professionals Be responsible for preparing materials, setting up welding equipment, and performing basic welding techniques on metal components Follow safety protocols, maintaining equipment, and gaining hands-on experience in various welding methods to develop skills for independent work in the future

Key Responsibilities:

Welding Support: Assist skilled welders in performing welding tasks using various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and Stick welding. This includes preparing materials for welding, setting up welding equipment, and ensuring the proper selection of materials based on project specifications Material Preparation: Prepare metal pieces by cutting, grinding, cleaning, and shaping them before welding. This also involves measuring and marking materials accurately to ensure precision in the welding process Learning Welding Processes: Gain proficiency in different welding processes, such as Arc Welding. Understand the principles of heat application, metal fusion, and how to adjust techniques to meet the specific needs of various projects Safety Compliance: Follow strict safety protocols and industry regulations while working in the welding environment. Wear proper protective equipment such as welding helmets, gloves, and safety boots. Adhere to all workplace safety practices to prevent accidents and injuries Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Help maintain welding equipment and tools by cleaning and inspecting them regularly for wear and tear. Assist in minor repairs of welding machinery and tools as needed Drawing Reading and Measurements: Learn how to interpret technical drawings On-the-Job Training: Receive training from senior welders and supervisors on various welding techniques Quality Control: Assist in inspecting finished welds for quality, accuracy, and strength. Learn to identify defects such as porosity, cracking, or incomplete fusion, and make adjustments as necessary Documentation and Reporting: Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on tasks. Report any issues or concerns to supervisors and contribute to regular project updates

Who you will be:

Someone who can work onsite in a safe manner and can pass a CSCS test Someone able to act respectively and sensibly in front of client and other trades Someone with a passion for welding and dedicated to learning and applying their trade

Training Outcome:
On completion of the apprenticeship, the successful candidate will become qualified to all company weld procedures and to undertake welding tasks onsite with own company vehicle while supervising and training another apprentice Pay to increase to reflect skills and ability Further training and qualifications to be obtained as and when needed

Working Hours :
Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week with 4 days on site and one day attending Crawley College. Some out of hours work may be required
