Road Freight Apprentice

Point of contact for operational issues and customer queries On time and accurate bookings of collections through freight forwarders using the correct mode of shipment in line with the customer requirements Training and liaising with suppliers to ensure supplier compliance in line with the customer rules Analysing data to recognise trends and improvements Work in line with the SOP to ensure service levels to the customer are upheld Maintain and develop close working relationships with key stakeholders Resolve issues, analysis, and recurrence prevention Provide accurate detail to the end destinations via exceptions, system updates and emails and dealing with queries in a timely manner When required provide spot rates to customers, finding the most cost-effective mode of transport and haulier Management of Reporting/Dashboards, to ensure performance measurement to agreed service levels Co-ordination of internal and external stakeholders Manage risks within the supply chain and escalate to internal and external stakeholders when service level is not achieved Cross train with other Supply Chain Coordinators to provide support to other SCC's during peak periods and periods of absence Deliver Continuous Improvement projects and services to the customer that enable DHL to retain and grow our proposition with the customers Support the Supply Chain Manager (line manager) in achieving overall department objectives Ensures that all interactions are compliant with DPDHL Code of Conduct and other compliance requirements e.g. anti-corruption Contribute to the First-Choice continuous improvement programme

Training:

International Freight Forwarding Specialist Level 3.

On the job training delivered by the employer.

Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end point assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeships English and mathematics minimum requirement is Entry Level 3.

Allocation of an apprenticeship delivery coach who will carry out regular training.

Assessment and support visits to ensure you acquire new learning, knowledge skills and behaviours in order to progress and develop.
Identify, track and support 6-hours off the job training activities.
Quarterly formal progress review meetings, identifying learning achievements and next steps.



Training Outcome:

The apprenticeship will initially be a 24-month Fixed Term Contract (FTC), with the aim that Apprentices either move onto a further apprenticeship or a permanent role within the business - subject to a suitable vacancy being available and in line with the selection process for the role.
