Key Responsibilities

Supporting Teaching and Learning

Support the delivery of high-quality provision in line with the EYFS statutory framework Support the learning, development and care of children aged 2–4 within a nurturing, school-based nursery environment Assist in planning and implementing engaging, play-based learning experiences. Assist in planning and delivering engaging activities linked to children’s interests and developmental needs Support both adult-led and child-initiated activities that promote communication, language and early development Help to create a stimulating, well-organised and enabling learning environment indoors and outdoors Develop an understanding of how children learn through play and exploration

Child Development and Wellbeing

Build positive, nurturing relationships with children to support their confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing Support children’s personal, social and emotional development through consistent and caring interactions Promote positive behaviour through clear expectations and supportive strategies Support inclusive practice, including working with children with SEND and adapting provision where needed

Observation, Assessment and Planning

Observe children’s learning and development and contribute to informal assessments Support the identification of next steps in learning Begin to understand how observations inform planning and provision

Safeguarding and Welfare

Follow all safeguarding and child protection procedures, ensuring children’s safety at all times Maintain a safe, clean and hygienic environment in line with health and safety requirements Support routines such as mealtimes, toileting and transitions throughout the day Understand the importance of confidentiality and professional conduct

Teamwork and Communication

Work collaboratively as part of the Early Years team Communicate effectively with colleagues and contribute positively to team discussions Begin to develop an understanding of working in partnership with parents and carers

Professional Development

Complete all requirements of the Early Years apprenticeship programme Attend training sessions, meetings and reviews as required Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development Reflect on practice and respond positively to feedback

General

Uphold the values and ethos of Kings Hill School Primary & Nursery Follow all school policies and procedures at all times Maintain high standards of professionalism, attendance and punctuality 

Training:
Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Standard Paediatric First Aid Functional Skills in English and maths at level 2 if required Work-based and tutor supported online training Preparation for End Point Assessment https://skillsengland.education.gov.uk/apprenticeships/st0135-v1-5

Employer Description:

Our Nursery benefits from the full resources and teaching expertise of Kings Hill School. Children are taught by a qualified teacher and teaching assistants and have dedicated mid-day supervisors. The Nursery has a carefully designed space both inside and outside that encompasses all areas of the Early Years framework allowing children to grow in independence, curiosity and confidence.

Children who attend the Nursery have access to the facilities of the school including playing fields, wildlife and woodland area, growing areas, football pitches, MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area), all-weather running track, ICT suite, library, music studio and a large indoor hall. Children are also very much part of Kings Hill School and attend assemblies and have opportunities to spend time with older children.

Our Nursery is a caring environment where all children are encouraged to succeed and are treated as individuals. Our school values of respect, courage, kindness, cooperation, resilience and responsibility are also embedded within our Nursery and prepare our children for the next stage of starting primary school.



Working Hours :
Monday to Friday, 8:15am-3:45pm. Term time only.
