Apprentice Prosthetic Technician
To manufacture prosthetic sockets and prostheses to a high standard from plaster casts (or other materials) prepared by the Prosthetist, ensuring that all limbs are ready for fitting and delivery in line with agreed contract lead times and patient appointment schedules
To assemble prostheses as prescribed by the Prosthetist, ensuring the specification conforms to the recognised guidelines issued by the component manufacturers and referring any inconsistencies to the Workshop Lead/relevant Prosthetist
To statically align limbs to manufacturers and Prosthetist instructions ensuring limbs are safe for fitting
To adhere to documented Company or manufacturer socket lay-ups, recording any variances on patient job sheet or IT system
To ensure that the prostheses produced and prepared conform to the Company’s Quality Standards through visual and mechanical inspections
To assist Clinicians with conducting risk assessments of hybrid and non-standard limb builds
To book materials and components used onto relevant paperwork and any IT system, both promptly and legibly to ensure correct allocation of costs and accurate stock levels are maintained
To apply good working practices during the production process to reduce material wastage to a minimum
To liaise with the clinicians regarding any new components or manufacturing techniques
Training:
This is a full-time position whilst remotely undergoing the Level 3 Prosthetic and Orthotic Technician apprenticeship programme associated with Derby University
One day a week will be allocated for academic study with remaining time being hands on training within workshop
Tasks completed in the workshop will form part of the Apprenticeship Portfolio of work
Training Outcome:
Full Technician with ability to develop through a banded skills system

We have 6 permanent clinic locations across England and Scotland with additional visiting clinics across the UK.
Working Hours :
Working patterns can be flexible but the role is full time eight hours a day for 5 days a week. Shifts to be confirmed.
