Quality / test engineer Apprentice

Safety, IATF & Laboratory Governance:

Follow all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures applicable to laboratory activities Support laboratory activities in accordance with IATF 16949 laboratory requirements, working within defined procedures and under appropriate supervision Learn to identify hazards and risks associated with laboratory testing and escalate concerns where necessary Maintain laboratory standards through participation in 5S, equipment care and safe systems of work

Test Planning, Validation & Re-Qualification:

Assist with the preparation and execution of laboratory tests in line with internal procedures, customer specifications and agreed test plans Support design validation, re-qualification and layout inspection testing activities under guidance from experienced engineers Learn how test coverage aligns with special characteristics, control plans and validation scope Support multiple test activities concurrently, developing time management and prioritisation skills with supervision

Laboratory Competence & Measurement Control:

Learn to operate laboratory test equipment and instrumentation within defined competency and training limits Support the use of calibrated and traceable equipment in accordance with laboratory procedures Develop an understanding of measurement principles, equipment capability and basic calibration requirements Follow defined test methods and work instructions, escalating where methods or standards are unclear

Data Integrity, Reporting & Documented Information:

Accurately record test data and observations in line with laboratory documentation requirements Learn to analyse basic test results and identify anomalies under supervision Support the preparation of draft test reports and records for review and approval by a competent engineer Ensure test records and documented information are maintained in accordance with document control and record retention requirements

Quality, Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement:

Support failure analysis and problem-solving activities using recognised methodologies, with guidance Assist with containment, corrective and preventive action activities by providing test data and evidence Participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement activities within the laboratory to improve safety, quality and efficiency

Training:
1 day a week (term time) College assessor Work place mentor 

Training Outcome:
After completion of apprenticeship progression within the company is available to other roles such as test engineer, quality technician and more
