Level 2 Machinist / Tool Room Apprenticeship
In this role, you will develop the foundational skills needed to operate advanced CNC and manual machinery, transforming raw materials into high-quality components for our customers. You will receive comprehensive on-the-job training while earning a recognised qualification. The successful candidate will develop into a multi-skilled operator; taking ownership of processes and contributing to the preparation, control, and completion of manufacturing processes and standard operating procedures.
With a focus on safety and efficiency, the apprenticeship prepares you to work closely with sales and technical teams and handle any issues that arise in the process, offering a solid foundation for a rewarding career in the tool room.
The following are the learning targets:
Setting, programming and machine operation to manufacture tooling components Inspecting and checking manufactured components to within exceptionally high tolerancesMachines & processes:
Sink (spark) EDM Wire-cut EDM Hole-drilling EDM Profile punch grinding Turning - CNC lathe Surface grinding Laser marking machineOther areas of learning are as follows:

Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located at Mc Kenzie Way, Worcester WR4 9GN.
Duration approximately 18-months.
Training is delivered as block release (4-days per week at HWGTA and 1-day in your company), 3 x 6-week blocks within the Training Centre, plus a 4-week block within a classroom setting to cover practical and theory aspects, working to complete the following qualifications:
EAL Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (Skills) EAL Level 2 Certificate in Engineering Operations (Knowledge)Additional training for functional skills in English and maths will be undertaken if needed.
There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on programme.
Training Outcome:

Working Hours :
Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 17:00 including 1-hour unpaid lunch.
