Maintenance / Mechatronics Apprentice

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Assist conducting routine inspections of equipment. Assist in scheduling PPM and repairs for equipment. Assisting and performing preventative maintenance activities. Assisting and learn to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and correcting them. Assist Maintaining key and general spares for all equipment. Assistance to Ensure all tools and process equipment is maintained in a safe state. Assist and learn to carry out Mechanical & Electrical installations. Learn and understand how to produce full costings for items and projects for any planned work. Ensure quick reaction to any breakdowns that occur. Maintain a good level of housekeeping in the maintenance room.

Additional Tasks:

Provide holiday cover for maintenance engineers as required. Undertake training courses when required to maintain the effectiveness of the role. General repair and upkeep of the building infrastructure. Maintain accurate records as and when required.

Training:

Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located at Holmer Road, Hereford HR4 9SX.

Level 3 comprises of:

Duration approximately 40-45 months.

Year 1, between 22–39 weeks are spent at HWGTA Training Centre developing practical engineering skills, alongside one day per week in the classroom, completing the theoretical elements of the EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.

Year 2, predominantly based in your company, returning to the Training Centre one day per week to continue and complete the specialised elements of their Level 3 Diploma (Development Knowledge).

Years 3–4
Based full-time in your company, developing practical skills and knowledge in preparation for the End Point Assessment to gain your Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Level 3 qualification.

 Additional training for functional skills in English and Maths will be undertaken if needed.
