Machinist - Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Apprentice

This entry-level position offers comprehensive training to build your technical knowledge, practical skills, and understanding of tooling processes to support production and manufacturing operations.
This apprenticeship is designed to provide you with the foundation for a successful career in engineering and manufacturing.

Position Key Responsibilities

Assist with the maintenance, repair, and modification of tooling and equipment. Learn to inspect tools for wear and damage to meet required standards. Support in diagnosing faults and identifying solutions under supervision. Develop skills in operating machinery such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders. Learn to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD designs. Gain an understanding of material properties and precision measurement tools. Follow all company health and safety guidelines. Learn about risk assessments and proper PPE use. Assist in inspecting completed tools to ensure they meet technical specifications. Work closely with experienced engineers and toolmakers to develop skills.

Knowledge, Skills & Expertise 

No prior experience required; training will be provided. Basic understanding of mechanical principles or experience with practical tasks is desirable. Familiarity with hand tools or technical drawing would be an advantage but is not essential. A positive attitude and a strong commitment to developing technical skills.

Training:

Apprentices will be required to attend Uxbridge college one day per week, working towards completion of necessary mandatory training and units associated with the apprenticeship.

The apprentice will be required to complete:

Work towards gaining a full Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship qualification. Employment Rights and Responsibilities. Skills, Knowledge, and Behaviours. Standard and End Point Assessment.

Other training will be provided by the employer as required to enable the fulfilment of the job role.



Training Outcome:

On successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to you being offered a permanent role with the company.
