Teaching Assistant Apprentice (Rise Carr College)
This practical role includes training towards a Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship, helping you gain the skills and experience needed for a rewarding career supporting teaching and learning.
Your main duties would include, but are not restricted to:
Establish rapport and respectful, trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a role model, and setting high expectations Raise pupil achievement by supporting the class teacher to develop outstanding practice Work with individual and groups of children to encourage them to achieve greater independence and self-confidence Promote positive pupil behaviour in line with school policies and help keep pupils on task Interact with, and support pupils, according to individual needs and skills Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all children within the classroom ensuring access to lessons and their content through appropriate clarification, explanation and resources Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, providing feedback to the teacher on pupil progress and behaviour Support the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans, SEN Profiles and Care Plans To assist with escorting pupils on educational visits Attend relevant training and take responsibility for own development To respect confidentiality at all timesTraining:
You will be completing the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard with Darlington Borough Council Learning & Skills. This programme equips you with the knowledge and practical skills to support teaching and learning across a range of classroom settings.
Training is delivered through a blend of online learning and expert-led sessions, covering key topics such as supporting pupil progress, safeguarding, behaviour management, and inclusive practice.
Throughout the apprenticeship, you’ll be supported by experienced tutors with real-world education experience. You’ll gain valuable hands-on experience in the classroom, working alongside qualified teachers while earning a nationally recognised qualification.
Training Outcome:
Successful completion of the apprenticeship may lead to full-time employment and/ or further training.
