Apprentice Maintenance Engineer
The successful candidate will split their time between academic study and practical, on-site experience.
The role will be primarily electrical (approximately 70%), with around 30% focused on mechanical maintenance to provide a well-rounded engineering skillset.
On-site, you will support the engineering team in maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving production equipment. This includes working with motors, sensors, control panels, PLC systems, conveyors, and general mechanical assemblies.
You will assist with planned preventative maintenance (PPM), respond to breakdowns, and help minimise downtime.
As part of your apprenticeship, you will:
Attend college or a recognised training provider to study electrical engineering Apply theoretical knowledge to real industrial applications Learn to read electrical and basic mechanical drawings Develop skills in fault finding, safe isolation, and diagnostics Gain experience with both electrical systems and mechanical componentsKey responsibilities include:
Supporting electrical (70%) and mechanical (30%) maintenance activities Assisting with PPM schedules and breakdown response Following strict health & safety procedures Maintaining accurate maintenance and service recordsThe working hours are Monday to Thursday with a 6am start, this apprenticeship would be suitable for over 18s due to the long working day.
The Apprenticeship will be based from the Stanton Drew and Chilcompton sites, due to the location own transport is essential.
Training:
You will attend College two day per week, term time only at our Somer Valley Campus in Radstock

On successful completion of the apprenticeship you may have the opportunity to continue working within the business
