Steel Estimator

A structural and steelwork contractor based in Hertfordshire is currently seeking a permanent Steel Estimator to join their pre-construction team. This is a vital role preparing accurate cost estimates and tenders for projects ranging from £20k to £3 million.

Start Date: April
Salary: £70,000 – £80,000 per annum
Hours: 08:00 AM – 05:00 PM
Contract: Permanent
Duties:

Reviewing detailed drawings and specifications to understand project requirements. Performing accurate material take-offs and assessments. Obtaining and analyzing supplier and subcontractor quotations. Assessing labour and fabrication costs based on project complexity. Compiling and submitting comprehensive and competitive tender packages. Liaising with internal teams to ensure technical and commercial alignment. Managing a pipeline of tenders with values ranging from £20k to £3m.

Requirements:

Proven experience as an Estimator within the structural or secondary steelwork sector. Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Excellent numerical and analytical skills. Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Excel. Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
