Apprentice Tool Maker

 

• Attend workshops and participate in as many learning opportunities as possible.

• Assisting within the relevant department, but also learning about other aspects of the company.

• Attending meetings and offering suggestions for improvement.

• Keeping a log of everything learned.

• TPM of injection mold tools ranging from 28-180kg.

• Maintain and set modular tooling based on  production priorities

• Analyse and identify any issues/improvements with existing tooling, manufacture and fit replacement tooling, discuss further actions with the manufacturing teams.

• Ensure reporting requirements are adhered to and that accurate data is available in a timely manner.

• Working alongside the production and QC  teams for all new/existing product development and customer requirements, including Kaizen activities.



Training:

Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located at Mc Kenzie Way, Worcester WR4 9GN.

Level 3 comprises of:

Duration approximately 40-45 months Year 1, between 22–39 weeks are spent at HWGTA Training Centre developing practical engineering skills, alongside one day per week in the classroom, completing the theoretical elements of the EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Year 2, predominantly based in your company, returning to the Training Centre one day per week to continue and complete the specialised elements of their Level 3 Diploma (Development Knowledge) Years 3-4, Based full-time in your company, developing practical skills and knowledge in preparation for the End Point Assessment to gain your Toolmaker (Engineering Technician) Level 3 qualification

Working Hours :
Monday to Thursday, 8.00am-4.00pm and Friday, 8.00am - 3.00pm. 45 minutes break (30 minutes paid)
