Apprentice Digital Printer

Key roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting in the following and when fully trained to undertake:

To prepare artwork where necessary for print To undertake colour sampling tests where appropriate To operate print machines from preparation, loading correct media, setting up correctly, actioning the print run and monitoring the print to ensure a successful conclusion To prepare, load and monitor print through the heat press where appropriate To operate other machinery such as seam sealing machines and lathes To help cut and prepare print for the sewing department to finish To be able to help with and be fully involved in the assembly of the final products working in tandem with the sewing and finishing department To ensure work is constantly self-checked for quality and so that any defects are spotted early in the process To carry out end day, weekly and monthly maintenance on the print machines and presses

Training:

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the qualification obtained will be a Level 3 Print Press Technician Apprenticeship Standard. The apprentice will be given sufficient time to undertake their "off-the-job" requirement of the apprenticeship. Throughout your time as an apprentice, you will be supported by both the team at Nuwave Display and the BPIF. Training requirements will be discussed at the point of employment to suit your individual needs and business needs. Most training and studying will be site-based.



Training Outcome:

We are a small company, so the trainee will have the opportunity to sample all areas of the business. This would range from client interaction to artwork design, to the core role of operating the print machines, to system assembly and dispatch. Skills learnt at any of these disciplines will make the candidate a very valuable member of the Nuwave team in particular and our hope is that our apprentices stay with us for the long term.



Employer Description:
We print and manufacture banners, flags and display systems for the event and exhibition industry. We make systems mainly printed onto textile and we work with some vinyl media. We work often on short lead times to provide systems that are required for "no miss" dates. We have a dedicated team to ensure we fulfil this requirement.

Working Hours :
Monday - Friday 9.00am -5.00pm including lunch break - 37.5 hours per week
