Apprentice Dimensional Inspector

The apprentice will learn to inspect components accurately, determine their conformity to engineering drawings, and take responsibility for ensuring product dimensional integrity Alongside formal training, the role provides hands-on experience in both the machine shop and foundry, including supporting the setup of components for machining and assisting with the fit-up and assembly of complex welded fabrications As competence grows, the apprentice will be expected to select appropriate inspection methods and equipment, carry out pre-use calibration checks on GOM software and laser-scanning tools, interpret inspection results, and report findings with accountability and professionalism The apprentice will undertake dimensional inspection and mark-out of castings and forgings both before and after machining to confirm conformance to engineering drawings, using traditional tools such as micrometers and verniers as well as advanced equipment including Faro Arms, laser scanners, trackers, and other measurement systems The role includes assisting with the setup of components for machining, supporting witnessed inspections with customer representatives, and working closely with personnel in the foundry, forge, and machine shop to ensure items are correctly identified, safely located, and ready for inspection

Training Outcome:
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship the apprentice would be offered a full time role

Working Hours :
Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm, eventually this role will involve some shift working, which may include evenings and weekends.
