Apprentice Window & Door Installer
On a day-to-day basis as an apprentice, you will be doing the following:
Hands-on Installation: Learn how to correctly remove old windows and doors and complete the precise installation of high-quality replacements. Technical Finishing: Learn the "art" of the trade, including applying silicone seals, fitting internal trims, and ensuring a perfect finish. Tool Mastery: Gain confidence using a wide range of specialised manual and power tools under expert supervision. Site Management: Take responsibility for loading/unloading materials and maintaining a clean, organised workspace to ensure a smooth workflow. Precision Measuring: Work alongside senior installers to learn how to take accurate measurements and check levels for a perfect fit. Safety & Compliance: Follow strict Health and Safety regulations and building codes to protect yourself, the team, and the customer’s property. Customer Relations: Act as a professional representative of the company, providing polite service and maintaining a tidy home environment for clients. Cross Trade Exposure: Work alongside our wider maintenance teams, gaining insight into flooring, minor carpentry and associated remedial works that often complement window and door installations. Problem Solving on Site: Learn how different trades coordinate together on live projects, understanding sequencing, access requirements and how to avoid clashes between works. Finishing and Making Good: Develop skills in basic making good, including trim work and minor adjustments that ensure a professional handover to the customer. Understanding the Bigger Picture: Gain awareness of how installations link to ventilation, damp control and building performance, especially within social housing environments. Professional Standards: Observe how experienced team members manage client expectations, maintain compliance standards and deliver work that meets housing provider specifications.Training:
All aspects of your training will be delivered on-site with your employer.
Earn While You Learn: All your training takes place during your normal working hours—and you get paid for every minute of it.
Mentoring: Most of your week is spent on-site with an expert mentor who will show you exactly how to install windows, doors, and glass safely and professionally.
Dedicated Study Time: We set aside specific hours each week just for you to focus on your coursework, online learning, and workbooks.
Expert Support: You’ll have an assigned Assessor who visits you on-site at least every 10 weeks to check your progress and give you feedback.
Flexible Learning: You can choose the style that fits you best, either a full day of training every 10 weeks or "bite-sized" 2-hour sessions every month.
All of this leads to your Level 2 Fenestration Installer qualification, giving you a massive head start and the professional credentials to build a great career in the trade.
Training Outcome:
This apprenticeship is designed to lead to a permanent position within our Window and Door team on successful completion.
The right candidate will progress from apprentice to qualified installer, taking on greater responsibility, working independently on site and eventually leading their own installations. As the company continues to grow, there will be opportunities to move into senior installer roles, specialist works or supervisory positions.
