Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care
On a typical day, the apprentice will support individuals in their own homes or in the community to live as independently as possible. Duties will include assisting with daily living tasks such as preparing meals, supporting with personal care where required, helping with shopping and attending appointments, and encouraging individuals to take part in social and community activities. The apprentice will also help maintain a clean and safe environment, complete daily care notes, follow care plans, and work closely with colleagues and families to ensure each person receives high-quality, person-centred support. Training and supervision will be provided to help develop skills and confidence in the role.
Training:
The apprentice will complete their training both in the workplace and through a recognised training provider. Most learning will take place on the job, where the apprentice will gain practical experience while being supported by experienced staff. In addition, the apprentice will attend training sessions and complete online learning with the training provider.
Training will typically take place one day per week or through scheduled online sessions and workshops, alongside regular supervision and support from the management team. This combination of practical and theoretical learning will help the apprentice develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to successfully complete the apprenticeship.
Training Outcome:
After successfully completing the apprenticeship, there may be an opportunity to progress into a permanent role as a Support Worker within the organisation. With further experience and additional training, individuals may also progress into senior support roles.
