Lifting Operations Apprentice
As a Lifting Operations Apprentice, you’ll be part of the workshop and site teams responsible for handling some of the largest and most complex rotating equipment in the industry. Your role will include:
Supporting the safe lifting, movement, and positioning of heavy pumps and components, some weighing up to 150 tonnes Learning correct rigging and slinging techniques, including selecting the right lifting accessories and preparing loads for lifting Assisting with crane operations, working under supervision to plan lifts, attach loads, and guide crane movements Inspecting lifting gear and equipment, ensuring chains, slings, shackles, and lifting beams are safe, certified, and fit for purpose Reading and understanding lifting plans, risk assessments, and method statements as part of safe system of work training Supporting workshop operations, helping to move large components between work areas for repair, assembly, or testing Maintaining accurate records for lifting equipment inspections, usage, and compliance requirements Following strict health, safety, and environmental procedures, including safe manual handling, hazard awareness, and equipment checks Working alongside experienced lifting technicians, engineers, and workshop teams to gain practical skills and professional confidence Contributing to continuous improvement, helping identify safer or more efficient ways to plan and execute liftsTraining:
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Working Hours :
37 hours a week, Monday to Thursday, 07.00 - 15.30. Friday, 07.00 - 12.00. One half hour unpaid break per day.
