Electromechanical Apprentice

Job Responsibilities:

Assist with dismantling, inspecting and rebuilding large rotating equipment such as motors, generators and industrial components. Support engineers with mechanical and electrical repair work, including cleaning, fault‑finding and basic refurbishment tasks. Learn to operate workshop tools, lifting gear and specialised machinery safely and correctly. Help with testing activities, including preparation of components for high‑voltage and performance tests. Take part in machining, fitting, winding or assembly tasks depending on workshop needs and training stage. Maintain workshop organisation, ensuring tools, parts and work areas meet safety and quality standards. Follow engineering processes and record work accurately to support high‑quality service delivery. Shadow experienced technicians to build practical knowledge, technical capability and real‑world engineering experience. Contribute to team projects across different stages of repair, overhaul and testing. 

Training:

Year 1: Our apprentices will attend college full time during their first year as an apprentice while they work towards a Level 2 or 3 qualification. Here you will learn the basics needed for your role with us at Sulzer.

Years 2, 3 & 4: Join the team at Sulzer—You’ll be supported in putting the practical skills you learnt at college into real work. To support your development, you will be offered internal training and mentoring while working towards a Level 3 qualification and final Apprenticeship Standard.



Training Outcome:

Clear progression routes, with many past apprentices now thriving in leadership and specialist roles.

07:00-15:45 Mon-Thu 07:00-14:30 Fri. Paid 15 min break in the morning, unpaid 30min lunch
