NDT Apprentice
Candidate will join an active team and be trained to carry out testing of welds and other components both onsite and within our laboratory
Methods include ultrasonics and Surface Crack detection techniques
The candidate will also be trained to cut and prepare samples for examination by means of non-destructive testing and evaluation with equipment such as macroscopic examination and hardness assessment
Candidate will be expected to maintain workshop cleanliness
Candidate will help with upkeep in general maintenance and repairs as required
Training:
The apprenticeship programme is designed to gain skills and technical expertise to become a certified NDT Operative in three NDT Methods. This includes health and safety training, 1-to-1 mentoring, seminars, practical work experience sessions, and on-the-job training on a monthly basis.
The candidates will keep records of their learning and experience throughout the programme and create an improvement plan for their Portfolio of Evidence to be presented at End Point Assessment.
On successful completion of the apprenticeship scheme, further PCN qualifications may be gained.
Training Outcome:
To become a fully qualified NDT technician within a successful authorised inspection body with the opportunity to qualify as a welding inspector.
Employer Description:
Weld Test and inspection body, based in the south-east of England (Kent). Over 40 years of service to variety of sectors including power generation, construction and infrastructure projects.
Working Hours :
Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm 1-hour lunch break. Early starts and later finishes may be required for site-based work. Weekend hours may also be required.
