CNC Machinist

We are seeking an experienced Sliding Head CNC Machinist to join a busy machine shop facility in Bournemouth for a company who are a lead manufacturer of electric motors.

You will be responsible for programming, setting and operating sliding head CNC lathes to manufacture high-quality, close-tolerance precision components efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities for the CNC machinist role in Bournemouth

CNC Programming

Program sliding head CNC lathes using G-code and/or offline CAM software Optimise cycle times, tooling efficiency and machining performance Modify and improve existing programs to resolve issues

Setting & Operation

Set and prove out sliding head CNC machines (Citizen, Tornos or similar) Select and set cutting tools, guide bushes and workholding Manufacture components to engineering drawings and tight tolerances Monitor performance and adjust offsets as required

Quality & Compliance

Inspect components using micrometers, verniers and gauges Ensure parts meet tolerance and surface finish requirements Maintain high Health & Safety standards and regulatory compliance

Requirements for the position of CNC machinist in Bournemouth

Proven experience as a Sliding Head CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator Strong G-code knowledge Experience with Citizen, Tornos or similar sliding head lathes Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Experience producing precision, close-tolerance components
