Facilities Assistant Apprentice

Purpose of Post
To support the effective operation and maintenance of the organisation’s facilities while undertaking an apprenticeship from September 2026. The Apprentice Facilities Assistant will gain practical, hands-on experience by working alongside experienced staff, developing skills in building maintenance, facilities administration, health and safety, and general site support, while contributing to a safe, well-maintained, and efficient working environment.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Assist with routine maintenance of the premises Support the team in setting up and clearing event spaces Conduct basic inspections of facilities and report issues Help with stock control and ordering supplies Support health and safety procedures and protocols Carry out general duties such as moving equipment and furniture Learn about building systems (BMS) and maintenance procedures Support the team in ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the site Assist in building relationships with outside organisations service the building Learn to understand and action compliance documentation

Training:

You will be supported to achieve the Facilities Service Operator level 2 apprenticeship. Theoretical training will be delivered by the training provider on a weekly basis. Practical training and support will be given in the workplace, allowing you to embed your learning in the working environment. You will receive 6 hours per week to complete coursework within your working hours.



Training Outcome:

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, we aim to offer a permanent role within the team if a position is available. Alternatively, we shall endeavour to secure an alternative position within the City of London Corporation.

Working Hours :
Between 8am to 4:30pm with 1 hour for lunch. Flexibility will be required for business needs. Days to be confirmed.
