Tooling Apprentice

Daily/Weekly Tasks:

To interpret and produce engineering drawings to standard layouts and specifications To safely and competently use various manual machinery such as lathes, milling machines and surface grinders To program and operate machinery such as a wire and spark eroder To correctly and safely use all hand tools To correctly use measuring equipment to inspect completed work, to ensure compliance with tolerances and quality standards Assist in the manufacture of new extrusion tooling Service and carry out preventative maintenance of tool parts, including dies and tank plates Support the production team in the technical assessment of tooling issues To assist where required with tooling start-ups and trials

Training:

This is a Level 3 Tooling apprenticeship, delivered over a 32 month period. The apprentice will attend the training centre In-Comm Training Aldridge WS9 or Telford TF3, 2 and a half days per week for the first 14 months.
