Senior Network Engineer – Remote (with occasional visits to their HQ in Birmingham)

A leading IT service provider is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

The client provides a wide range of technical services to hundreds of customers across the UK, with a specialism in cloud and security services.

They are an exceptionally well-established business and have made numerous acquisitions over the years with plans to continually grow, specially within their security practise.

They also hold the IBM Platinum Business Partner accreditation.

Due to additional workload the network team is expanding.

Reporting directly to the Networks Operations Leader, you’ll be responsible for providing BAU and helping to develop and maintain functional and secure network platforms.

There will also be some ad-hoc project work depending on business demand.

- Provide 3rd Line BAU support to their customers
- Provide support to the businesses network infrastructure in line with SLAs
- Design network architecture solutions by collaborating with customers on their requirements
- Advise wider teams on platform improvements and enhanced security
- Asist the network team with 3rd party contracts, circuits, hardware inventory etc.
- Installation and configuration of Cisco LAN, WAN, Wireless and Security solutions when required
- Provide installation, configuration, demonstration, support documentation and troubleshooting of Switch/Router/Wireless/Security devices.

- CCNP certified
- Previous experience working within the IT services industry will be highly favoured however not mandatory
- Excellent knowledge of Cisco firewalls, Juniper and Fortigate configuration
- Knowledge of Site-to-Site VPN technologies
- Extensive experience working with Cisco switches and routers
- Knowledge of OSPF, BGP, MPLS and VLANS, STP, Stacking etc.
- An understanding of corporate LAN and WAN data networks
- Experience with Microsoft Azure Public Cloud
- Load balancing experience would be beneficial (Cisco, F5, Barracuda LB etc.)
- Excellent time management and communication skills

Offering up to £55,000 PA plus numerous benefits.

Monday-Friday, 08:00 – 18:30 (shift will be within these hours).

Please note, you will be required to be on-call (24x7) every 1 in 4 weeks, you will receive a £300 p/w on-call allowance.

Currently this team is fully remote however this potentially could change to hybrid in the future, they require candidates within a commutable distance to Birmingham.
