Muti-skilled apprentice (Mechatronics)

Effective problem solving in both mechanical and electrical scenarios across a medium sized FMCG manufacturing site.  Learning, appreciation and the eventual application of technical skills in the maintenance and breakdown support function across site, ‘driving-the-change’ from reactive to a proactive maintenance culture within the engineering department.  Learning, support and action in the installation, commissioning and launch of new, upgraded and renovated manufacturing equipment.  Study and support in the effective roll out of new maintenance systems, incorporating preventative action planning, stores management and abnormality planning.   Both independent and team working skills – working with an embedded and dedicated site team with a range of experience in operations, H&S, site quality and engineering functions. 

Training:

Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in Hereford (HR4 9SX).

Depending on the vacancy title, you will be undertaking either a Level 2 or Level 3 apprenticeship.

Level 3 comprises of:

Duration approximately 40-45 months.

Year 1, between 22–39 weeks are spent at HWGTA Training Centre developing practical engineering skills, alongside one day per week in the classroom, completing the theoretical elements of the EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.

Year 2, predominantly based in your company, returning to the Training Centre one day per week to continue and complete the specialised elements of their Level 3 Diploma (Development Knowledge).

Years 3–4
Based full-time in your company, developing practical skills and knowledge in preparation for the End Point Assessment to gain your Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Level 3 qualification.

Additional training for functional skills in English and Maths will be undertaken if needed.



Training Outcome:

On successful completion of a L3 mechatronics apprenticeship, we would hope the candidate could move into a permanent role as a Multi-skilled Technician at the Marlbrook site, near Leominster. Subject to availability within the team at that time.

While on site: Monday – Thursday 07:00 – 16:42 (4 day working week) or Tuesday – Friday 07:00 – 16:42 (4 day working week).
