Apprentice Field Service Engineer

This role will involve identifying faults, developing troubleshooting skills and learning pump diagnostic techniques.

Over the course of the apprenticeship, you will be supported to learn to:

Work across various responsibilities while strengthening the fundamental skills central to your role. Check the day’s job schedule with your supervisor or lead engineer. Gather required tools, equipment, and materials. Support a qualified engineer with maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and installations. Observe techniques and ask questions to build understanding of the role. Carry out basic tasks independently under supervision. Assist with fault‑finding and troubleshooting, Help install, service, or repair equipment. Travel as required, using the company van or designated transport, to attend call-outs and carry out service, maintenance, fault‑finding, repair and installation work on pumps and associated mechanical equipment. Complete job reports online, upload photos of the work carried out, and provide a brief summary detailing all equipment used. Use manuals if necessary for new equipment. Work as part of a team and independently. Engage positively with all parts of the apprenticeship, including all work required at college to complete qualifications.

Training:

The training for this apprenticeship will take place at Abingdon & Witney College on Abingdon Campus (OX14 1GG).

Duration: 

13 months practical training period, plus 3 months for End Point Assessment

Delivery model:

Work-based training with your employer. Day release during term time (approximately 2 days a week for 1 year). Regular meetings with your training coordinator to monitor progress and well-being. Apprentices will need to complete a minimum of 300 hours of off-the-job training during their apprenticeship.

Qualifications included:

Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (Skills). Level 2 Certificate in Engineering Operations (Knowledge). Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship.

End Point Assessment:

Practical assessment.  Professional discussion. 

Training Outcome:
Continue professional development and undertake a Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship. Progression to permanent employment within the company and all the associated perks ie. Bonuses etc. Our previous apprentice successfully completed their training and has progressed to a fully qualified engineer within the business.

Employer Description:

Allsebrook Pumps is a specialist in the supply and installation, maintenance, commissioning and repairs of pumps and associated equipment for private, commercial and rail companies. Following the success of our last apprentice placement we are now in a position to provide an additional apprenticeship to learn to work on a range of pumps and equipment.



Working Hours :
Monday to Friday 08:30 – 16:30.
