About the role/school

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive community primary in Balham. This SEN Teaching Assistant role is full-time and starts ASAP, providing an excellent opportunity to support children with additional needs in a nurturing environment.

The school serves children from nursery age through to 11 years old and offers a broad curriculum alongside extended day provisions. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work within a diverse setting with strong community engagement, parent involvement, and a wide range of support structures designed to promote academic progress and personal development. This role is ideal for a SEN Teaching Assistant who is passionate about making a positive impact on children’s learning and wellbeing.

Job Responsibilities

Support pupils with special educational needs as a SEN Teaching Assistant

Assist with classroom activities and one-to-one or small group interventions

Promote inclusion, wellbeing, and positive behaviour in the school environment

Help implement educational programmes under the guidance of teachers

Contribute to pupils’ personal, social, and academic development as a committed SEN Teaching Assistant

Qualifications/Experience

Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant or similar support role in a primary setting

Knowledge of strategies to support children with additional needs

Strong communication, patience, and teamwork skills

Enhanced DBS Certificate with the Update Service

Right to work in the UK
