Apprentice operations clerk– Air Division
Key Responsibilities:
• Receive and action bookings, with support from the operations team
• Assist with arranging collections and deliveries
• Prepare export, import and cross-trade documentation, and support the submission of
customs entries under supervision
• Assist with the preparation of quotations
• Liaise with clients regarding documentation and shipment information, escalating queries
where required
• Respond to client enquiries in a timely and professional manner
• Support the invoicing of jobs in line with agreed processes
• Accurately input and maintain job information within CargoWise
• Work closely with colleagues, the line manager and Branch Manager to support daily operations.
Person Specification:
• A strong willingness to learn and develop skills in:
HMRC entry software (e.g. CCSUK / CDS)
HMRC tariffs and customs procedures
CargoWise or similar transport management systems
Customs clearance and freight forwarding operations (import, export and cross trade)
• A polite and professional telephone manner
• A genuine commitment to delivering good customer service
• Able to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, suppliers, agents and
colleagues
• Confident using computers, with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Reliable and committed, with the ability to work to deadlines and manage pressure with
support
• Flexible and adaptable within a changing operational environment
Training:
Level 3 International Freight Forwarding apprenticeship standard.
On the job training delivered by the employer. Allocation of an apprenticeship delivery coach who will carry out: Regular training. Assessment and support visits to ensure you acquire new learning, knowledge skills and behaviours in order to progress and develop. Identify, track and support 20% off the job training activities. Quarterly formal progress review meetings; identifying learning achievements and next steps.Training Outcome:
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship programme there will be the possibility of full time employment. XPand Logistics have a strong reputation of retaining successful learners.
