Production Engineer Apprentice
Support the design and development of new rope and cord products, including prototyping and performance testing.
Assist in analysing and improving manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and sustainability.
Use engineering software (e.g., CAD) to produce and update technical drawings and documentation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, production, and quality assurance.
Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities related to production issues.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the production line.
Maintain accurate records of engineering activities, trials, and modifications.
Adhere to health and safety standards and promote safe working practices.
Training:
Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in Worcester (WR4 9GN).
Duration approximately 40-45 months.
Year 1, between 22–39 weeks are spent at HWGTA Training Centre developing practical engineering skills, alongside one day per week in the classroom, completing the theoretical elements of the EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.
Year 2, predominantly based in your company, returning to the Training Centre one day per week to continue and complete the specialised elements of their Level 3 Diploma (Development Knowledge).
Years 3–4
Based full-time in your company, developing practical skills and knowledge in preparation for the End Point Assessment to gain your Engineering and Manufacturing Support Technician Level 3.
Additional training for functional skills in English and Maths will be undertaken if needed.

Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm. Lunch, 12.30pm to 1.30pm, unpaid. 2 x 15-minute break am & pm, paid.
