Ocean Freight Import Apprentice

Assist with Documentation:

Help prepare and review basic ocean freight import documents, such as bills of lading, customs declarations, delivery orders, and invoices Ensure all required paperwork is accurate and filed correctly under the guidance of senior team members

Support Customs Clearance:

Assist in coordinating with customs brokers to ensure goods are cleared efficiently Learn the import regulations and documentation required for smooth customs processing

Track Shipments:

Assist with monitoring and tracking the status of ocean shipments from port of origin to final destination Communicate shipment updates to customers and internal teams as needed

Coordinate with Freight Forwarders & Carriers:

Help liaise with shipping carriers, freight forwarders, and Assist in managing schedules and timelines to ensure timely deliveries

Recordkeeping and Compliance:

Maintain organised files for shipments, invoices, and other import-related documents Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant import/export regulations and company procedures

Customer Service Support:

Respond to basic customer inquiries regarding shipment status, delays, or required documents Help resolve minor issues with shipments under the direction of senior team members

Training:
On the job training delivered by the employer Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end point assessment For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeships English and mathematics minimum requirement is Entry Level 3 Allocation of an apprenticeship delivery coach who will carry out regular training Assessment and support visits to ensure you acquire new learning, knowledge skills and behaviours in order to progress and develop Identify, track and support 6 hours off the job training activities Quarterly formal progress review meetings, identifying learning achievements and next steps

Training Outcome:
Potential for permanent employment upon successful completion of the apprenticeship
