A Housing Client within the Public Sector in East London is currently recruiting for a Disrepair Surveyor to join their repairs team as soon as possible.
This is a full time, temporary contract for approximately 6 months and the ideal candidate will have extensive experience overseeing Disrepair Work in a social housing environment.
The purpose of the role is to deliver a full range of professional surveying services to: maintain the organisations owned properties, meet statutory and industry best practice; provide expert technical advice on building related matters, and to act as an expert witness in cases of disrepair litigation.
To provide a full range of surveying services in accordance with Repairs Policy, Business Plan and Repairs Team plan including;
Undertake diagnostic tests and procedures and specify appropriate remedial works or give advice as required e.g.
Providing expert technical support and advice;
Preparation of detailed specifications, feasibility studies and contract documentation, to include drawings;
Drafting programmes and cost profiles of repairs and minor works;
Stakeholder consultation, attending site meetings, supervision of works, liaison with repairs contractors, issue and agreement of instructions and variations;
Obtaining all relevant building consents;
Overseeing delivery of cyclical maintenance work;
Prompt turnaround of repairs to void properties;
Pre and post inspections, processing variations;
Ensuring relevant IT systems and databases are accurately and timeously updated;
Provide advice on disabled adaptations
Prepare documentation for Party Wall Awards and undertake associated negotiation;
Establish the validity of contractual claims and disputes and undertake negotiation and settlement as appropriate;
Conduct surveys with a variety of access and measuring equipment;
Provide an effective specialist surveying service ensuring professional energy related diagnostic surveys delivered.
Experience of working as a surveyor, carrying out the full range of duties
Experience of providing expert advice on building related matters
Experience producing outstanding work in a challenging and changing environment
Knowledge of relevant housing law, including disrepair, leasehold management
Knowledge of disrepair deadlines set out in Disrepair Protocol for responding to disrepair claims.
Knowledge of surveying best practice and developments within the profession
Knowledge of Housing Management and leasehold management
Effective report writing skills;
Able to work with demanding deadlines and manage resources, responding to tight and changing deadlines, including managing numerous competing priorities;
Excellent customer service skills and dedication to delivering effortless repairs service to residents and internal customers;
Commitment to take personal ownership and responsibility;
Proficient in ICT skills including a range of Microsoft Office applications;
Ability to attend court hearings as expert witness
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering between £27 - £28 p/hour Umbrella Ltd (approx.
£660 - £680 p/week NET after deductions) dependant on experience and qualifications.
