Apprentice Electrician

We are keen to support your college learning with on-the-job training from time served electrical contractors with many years experienced. Over the duration of the apprenticeship, through qualification and learning your trade, you will be involved in all aspects of installation and commissioning commercial and industrial (business) projects.
You will gain valuable experience working alongside other trades completing projects from conception to completion. We are proud that one of our current apprentices has won the Electrical Contractors News apprentice of the year award alongside us winning the Contractor of the Year Award for 2025.
The successful apprentice will assist with installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems. You will help with the installation of switches, conduits, outlets and other electrical devices. You will also assist in the repair and maintenance of these systems to ensure they function correctly and safely. You will use a variety of equipment including power construction equipment, testing equipment and power tools to perform your tasks. You will help to diagnose electrical problems with a variety of testing devices and help in finding solutions. You will communicate and issues, risks or additional tasks to your mentor. You will attend Milton Keynes College for practical training and lectures to gain theoretical knowledge of electrical systems. You will respect and follow safety procedures and wear the appropriate safety gear to carry out your work.The ideal candidate will have some previous experience, either through a full-time electrical course or practical on-site work. They should be punctual, reliable, and demonstrate a strong work ethic, along with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and take direction when required. Good listening and communication skills, a professional attitude, and attention to detail are essential. The role also requires good physical stamina for demanding tasks, as well as honesty, a smart and well-presented appearance, and a valid driving license with access to their own transport for travel to various site locations and to Milton Keynes College Chaffron Way Campus. This role may close sooner.

Training Outcome:
On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you may be offered a permanent role in an established electrical installation company. You will be given further development opportunities to enable career progression within Burgess Electrical Services Limited.
