Apprentice SENCo Support Assistant (Primary School)
Administrative Support
Maintain and update SEND records, including provision maps, pupil profiles, SENCo Assessment Records and EHCP application documentation. Support with the organisation of meetings and parent consultations. Assist in preparing reports, referrals, and paperwork for external agencies (e.g., SALT, Neurodevelopmental Assessment Pathway, Educational Psychologist). Track and monitor interventions and assessment data using school systems – e.g. using Insight. Manage SEN resources and maintain filing systems.Pupil-Facing Support:
Work with individual pupils or small groups to complete assessments (e.g., dyslexia screeners, speech and language checklists, phonics assessments). Gather pupil voice in SEND systems – e.g. for EHCP applications/referrals to external agencies. Build positive relationships with pupils to support engagement and emotional wellbeing.Collaboration and Communication:
Liaise with class teachers to gather information and support inclusive classroom practice. Communicate effectively with parents/carers regarding pupil progress and support. Attend relevant training and contribute to staff development sessions.Training:
Delivery of skills will take place online via a bespoke E-learning platform. There will be optional community days for networking and consolidation of learning at our Bridgwater College.
Training Outcome:
After this apprenticeship, opportunities may include moving into broader support roles with increased responsibility.
