Teaching Assistant Apprentice at St Wilfrid's Primary School

Supporting children on a 1:1 or group basis Supervise and support pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities Provide pastoral support to pupils within the school environment Set challenging and high expectations and promote self-esteem and independence Work with teachers to create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with school policy, and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour Provide clerical/admin support, e.g. photocopying, filing, creating resources, creating displays etc. Provide regular feedback to pupils and class teachers, and undertake routine marking of pupils’ work Be aware of and comply with school policies and procedures, particularly in relation to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, and reporting all concerns to an appropriate person Contribute to the overall ethos and aims of the school Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required Assist with supervision of pupils out of lesson times, including before and after school, and at lunchtime Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities as required

Training:

Teaching Assistant Level 3.

As part of your apprenticeship, you will be required to attend Sheffield College on a weekly day release. 



Training Outcome:

Potential of permanent employment upon successful completion of apprenticeship.

St Wilfrid’s Primary School is set in the South-West of Sheffield, situated just three miles from both the city centre and the Peak District national park. The school is set in extensive grounds with large playing fields and woodland, which provides an excellent learning environment.



Working Hours :
Monday - Friday (term time only) 34 hours per week, times to be confirmed. Includes 1-day per week at college.
