Job PurposeTo carry out all file quality checks and file submission functions in respect of Road Traffic Offences within the Criminal Justice Department and prosecute traffic matters at the Magistrates Court.
To attend and present Traffic cases at Magistrates courts, dealing with any enquiries, legal matters and applying for costs where appropriate, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
To quality check all Traffic Files in readiness for presenting at court.
Referring to the OIC where further evidence is required.
Maintain an up to date knowledge of the appropriate documentation to deal with legal arguments, and case management actions on behalf of Gwent Police.
To identify and serve case material related to specified proceedings as set out in the National File Standard, and the Criminal Procedure Rules.
To liaise with other prosecuting agencies e.g.
the Department of Vehicle Licensing, H.M.
Custom and Excise and telephone queries from defendants where necessary and to resolve case related enquiries.
To maintain an up to date knowledge of criminal/road traffic law, and other relevant legislation.
Education level and/or relevant experience(s)
Must possess a minimum of 2 A levels grades or equivalent qualifications such as NVQ level 3 in a related discipline such as business or public services qualification or possess relevant experience in casefile preparation and submission.2.
Must possess experience of the National File Standard, Attorney Generals and Director of Public prosecutions Guidance.3.
Must have experience of providing support and advice on policy, procedures, standards and rules and evidential standards of file preparation.4.
Must have experience of using bespoke and third party computer systems.5.
Must possess experience of file preparation within the Criminal Justice system.6.
Should have previous experience of attending Court and presenting evidence.
