Senior Sous Chef with progression plan to become Head Chef in 6 months

We are recruiting a Senior Sous Chef to join a community-led kitchen and bar space in Kings Cross, supporting a growing daytime and evening food offer. This role focuses on creativity, consistency and preparing for a smooth transition into a Head Chef position next year. You will work closely with the Development Head Chef, helping drive menu ideas, shape the kitchen culture and strengthen standards as the business continues to build momentum.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys structure, creative freedom and the chance to step into their first Head Chef role in a contained, well-supported environment.

Senior Sous Chef Responsibilities:

Support the Development Head Chef in running daily kitchen operationsLead service across breakfast, lunch and evening periodsDrive menu creativity across Breakfast and Lunch menus as well as innovative sandwiches, salads and weekly specialsMaintain strong standards of food quality and presentationManage stock, ordering and kitchen organisationTrain and mentor CDP, Commis and Kitchen AssistantsPrepare to step into full Head Chef responsibility as the venue grows

Senior Sous Chef Requirements:

Experience: Proven background as a Sous Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a fresh food operationAmbition: You want a clear step into a Head Chef role within 6 months (salary review at this time)Leadership: Strong ability to guide, support and develop a small teamCreativity: Confidence in contributing ideas for seasonal menus and specialsOrganisation: Calm, structured approach to service and prep
