Director of engineering

Job Title: Director of engineering - Luxury property
Location: Lisbon, Portugal
Salary: €60,200 gross per annum + bonus

A luxury lifestyle hotel in a busy city-centre location is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead its engineering and maintenance function. The property operates under a major international hotel group and features 150+ guestrooms and multiple dining outlets. The Chief Engineer will report directly to the Operations Manager / General Manager and oversee a team consisting of an Engineering Supervisor and four Engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all engineering, technical, and maintenance operations within the hotelEnsure full compliance with safety, legal, brand, and operational standardsOversee preventive maintenance programs and manage all building systemsGuide and support the engineering team, promoting strong performance and a safety-driven cultureManage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and brand representativesSupport overall hotel operations by maintaining high service and efficiency levels

Candidate Requirements

Proven experience within major international hotel brands (e.g., global luxury or lifestyle groups)Background in luxury or luxury lifestyle hotelsPortuguese or Spanish fluency is essentialAdvanced English required due to the international nature of the leadership teamStrong leadership skills and experience managing engineering teams in dynamic, high-footfall environmentsPre-opening experience is beneficial but not required
