Apprentice Technician – Mechanical
The Faculty’s well-equipped workshops and laboratories provide an ideal environment for high-quality, on-the-job training. Over the first 6-8 months you will undertake basic training followed by focused specialist training within designated teams and facilities across the faculty, allowing you to build your new practical skills and knowledge in specialist engineering disciplines.
There will be opportunities for you to learn and train on a wide range of cutting-edge engineering technologies and disciplines including:
CNC machining including CAD/CAM. Rig design, build and modification. Materials testing and characterisation. Other engineering processes/areas as needed.Training:
As well as practical learning and experience, you will attend a 4 year academic programme at a local FE college.
Qualifications to be undertaken will include: BTEC Level 3 in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.
Higher National Certificate (HNC) Level 4 Mechanical Engineering.
Internal training courses relevant to role.
During your apprenticeship, you will be fully supported by and learn from highly experienced and qualified engineering technicians, who are knowledgeable and passionate about their discipline.
Training Outcome:
Upon completion of the apprenticeship, there may be an opportunity to gain further employment with the University.

Working Hours :
Hours of work are full-time (36.25 per week), worked 5 days, Monday to Friday.
