Welding Apprentice
Job Responsibilities
o Assist welders in setting up and preparing weld surfaces, equipment, and materials as needed
o Cut and grind metal pieces to fit properly and remove any impurities
o Set, modify and monitor welding controls, for example, current, arc voltage, wire feed speed, gas flow rates, polarity etc.
o Perform basic welding tasks using MIG welder
o Inspection and quality control
o Clean and maintain welding equipment, tools and work areas daily
o Move materials and equipment within the workshop as directed by lead welders
o Apply health and safety procedures including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
o Collaborate with other team members to complete projects on time and to performance and quality expectations
o Attend mandatory safety meetings and training sessions
Job Requirements
o Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
o Willingness to learn and grow with the company
o Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
o Basic understanding of welding safety procedures and guidelines
o Strong work ethic and teamwork skills
and a Science
As an apprentice there is a requirement for regular training with a college for one full day per week. This position requires a willingness to work in an open workshop environment and learn from a team of experienced professionals. Physical strength is a prerequisite for this position, as is good hand-eye coordination and vision. You will need the ability to read and interpret shop drawings and enjoy working with welding machinery and metals.
Training:
1-2 Days a week at Royal Leamington Spa College
Training Outcome:
A full-time post is available upon successful completion of the apprenticeship programme.

We are based in Depper’s Bridge, near Southam, Warwickshire and have over 30 years’ experience working in the steel trade. We can cater for most jobs in all locations across the UK, and we are currently preferred suppliers for some of the country’s largest blue-chip companies.
Working Hours :
Hours of work are: Monday - Friday 07.30am – 16.30pm There is a paid morning break of 30 minutes from 10.00am Lunch break is 30 minutes from 13.00pm
