25-0053 Mechanical Fitter Apprentice

Role & responsibilities:

Machine builds; from materials delivery to ready-for-test stage from engineering drawings. Small-batch production - builds, fitting, and assembly Prototype builds. Learning about research and development of products. Learning about problem solving and overcoming challenges. Build readiness – translating designs into finished products. Control of build quality – learn how to inspect components, including reporting on these and raising any problems. Development of your knowledge and supporting continuous improvement in the business. Support of stores function - control of incoming materials and production orders. Recording of day-to-day activities – route cards and time sheets. General maintenance tasks for an efficient, safe and clean workshop environment.

Training:

You will study on a Level 3 Engineering Fitter standard. On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in Engineering at Level 3.

During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. After this, you will attend the Training Centre for one day a week for knowledge study.



Training Outcome:

Completion of the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre apprenticeships are nationally recognised qualifications which are acknowledged and respected by employers across the world. These can open the door to many more opportunities, such as Engineering Management and Project Engineering positions across a range of sectors worldwide.

Working Hours :
You will work Monday to Friday. Your start and finish times including your shift pattern will be determined by the employing company.
