Engineering Apprentice - Toolmaker

Toolmakers are amongst the most highly skilled workers in manufacturing. These workers produce, modify and repair tools and dies that enable machines to produce a variety of products that we use.

You will be required to work on tools and dies for numerous press operations including:

Transfer Progression Blanking Hydroform presses Apprentices will be trained in the safe use of a variety of hand tools, lathes, milling machines, CNC machines and problem-solving techniques and fault diagnosis

Training:

Our Technical Apprenticeship Programmes last 48 months and after spending an initial period at college learning the engineering basics you will begin working on site developing your competencies while continuing your studies on a day release basis

The programme leads to a Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard which includes:

Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Toolmaker, Tool and Die Maintenance Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)

Training Outcome:
Once qualified, many apprentices receive sponsorship from the company to study for degrees and other higher qualifications, which can enable them to develop their careers into a more senior role within the business Many of the successful applicants that have joined the company on the apprentice scheme have worked their way up through the ranks to some of the most senior positions within the company and, due to this, apprentices are held in very high regard within the company

Employer Description:
Gestamp Tallent Limited are a world class motor vehicle chassis, body in white developer and manufacturer. Supplying sub-frames plus other components to some of the worlds largest and premium brand motor vehicle manufacturers.

Working Hours :
First year is based full-time in college, days and shifts to be confirmed. From year 2 the working week will be Monday to Friday 7:00am - 3:00pm, shift work will be required from year 2.
