Teacher of Mathematics - Apprenticeship

In year 1, Apprentices will spend 3 days studying at university and 2 days developing in school. They will build progressively from TA support initially to 40% teaching timetable by the end of year 2. In year 2 and 3, they will spend 3 days in the school and 2 days studying at university. Gradually building their teaching commitment to 60% timetable. In year 4, Apprentices will spend 4 days at school with one further day at University. Their teaching commitment will increase to 80% in preparation for successful completion and QTS accreditation. Teacher apprentices in year 1 will observe and reflect upon practices used by a range of staff predominantly in their specialist subject, but will also receive excellent support and training in reflecting on practises of pedagogy that are transferable in different subjects. They will experience a range of different other roles of the teacher including the work of the pastoral team, SEN and inclusion departments. Teacher apprentices will have a timetable progressively planned to support their development and build their confidence, skill set and ability to teach across Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 by year 4. 

Training:
Teacher apprentices will receive a full teaching degree (BA/hons) through Staffordshire University. Qualified teacher stats (QTS) will be awarded alongside this degree allowing them to be a fully qualified teacher by the end of their apprenticeship. In year 1 the apprentice will spend 3 days at University (Staffordshire University – Stoke campus) and 2 days in school. In Year 2 and year 3 will spend 2 days at University (Staffordshire University – Stoke campus) and 3 days in school. In year 4 the apprentice will spend 1 days at University (Staffordshire University – Stoke campus) and 4 days in school.

Training Outcome:

We expect the apprentice to lead a thriving and successful teaching career on completion of this course.



Employer Description:
A successful secondary Academy (with sixth form) located in Stafford. The Academy has an excellent reputation in the local community and has continual experience of successful staff development.

Working Hours :
When in school the apprentice will be expected to attend from 8.30 – 3.15 PM Monday to Friday. This will include a minimum lunch period of 30 minutes.
