Architect Apprenticeship (Level 7)

To work on projects, following instruction from project architect or line manager. To support the senior team in delivering the quality of design that upholds the reputation of ZHA in the marketplace. To work alongside others to ensure that projects are designed and detailed to meet the design, quality and delivery standards set down by the senior team. To develop reliable recommendations and implications, supported by rigorous understanding of analysis. To carry out research, analyse and design options for the line manager. Ability to use applicable analytical tools and techniques including comprehensive knowledge of 2D&3D design software the candidate should have very good knowledge of 3 of the below platforms: Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, Maya, Houdini, Autodesk, Revit etc and in addition, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office To concise information for Team and client presentations. To supports team members with client presentation materials.

ARCHITECTURAL AND DESIGN SKILLS

Understand the ethos and design integrity of the ZHA brand and match it in their work. Take a brief in-house and respond effectively, referring as required, to ensure work remains on track. Work with the senior team to create competition entries and live projects that respond successfully to the brief and reflect the design ethos of ZHA. Demonstrate a basic understanding of legislation: H&S, Building Regulations, professional Code of Conduct, etc. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the suitability and performance of materials and components, in the context of real-life projects. Harness their raw creative talent and gain the respect of others in the practice for their design ability.

PROJECT AND DESIGN MANAGEMENT SKILLS

Understand the ethos and design integrity of the ZHA brand. Take a brief from a colleague – whether a peer, a senior or support staff. Work as an effective member of a project team. Deliver reasoned analysis that defines and establishes priorities for a given piece of work. Create key stage drawings and specifications for review with others. Create construction information under supervision, such that a building can be costed and built. Demonstrate a basic understanding of construction processes and logistics. Attend all project meetings as requested. Engage in constructive interaction with colleagues in-house and externally.

Training:

You will be required to be at the university one day 1 week. The day will communicated to you closer to start of the apprenticeship course.

Working Hours :
4 Days at ZHA, 1 day at London South Bank University.
