SEND Teaching Assistant Apprentice
As a SEND Teaching Assistant Apprentice, your role will be varied and include a wide range of responsibilities to support both pupils and staff. You will:
Be proactive in promoting the welfare, health, and safety of children and young people, ensuring their safety and access to learning Provide particular support for individuals and groups of pupils, including those with SEN, disabilities, EAL, and personal needs Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes Foster an inclusive environment by encouraging participation, engagement, and independent learning Help pupils to develop their cognitive and learning skills and provide feedback on their progress Assist with personal care, including feeding, toileting, dressing, and mobility where necessary Provide first aid when required and maintain an up-to-date first aid kit Help to create a purposeful, orderly, and supportive classroom environment Assist with planning, monitoring, and marking pupils’ work and provide regular feedback to teachers on pupil progress Develop displays, assist in lesson preparation, and support ICT learning activities Encourage positive pupil behaviour and address conflicts in line with school procedures Adhere to all school policies, including safeguarding and health and safety, ensuring all pupils have equal access to learning opportunities Support attendance, punctuality, and the overall ethos of the school Participate in out-of-school activities, visits, and support lunch and break duties Contribute to discussions with parents/carers under teacher supervisionTraining:
Level 3 Apprenticeship in Teaching Assistant consisting of:
Level 3 Apprenticeship in Teaching Assistant Level 2 Functional Skills in English (if applicable) Level 2 Functional Skills in maths (if applicable)You will be required to attend a half-day session with HBTC where you will work towards any functional skills (where needed) that you have to take. There will also be an end point assessment.
Training Outcome:
After the Apprenticeship, there may be an opportunity for you to advance in the workplace or go on to higher education.
