L3 Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship (Hitchin)
Read, interpret and understand diagrams, drawings and work instructions
Carry out relevant planning and preparation activities before commencing work activity and know how to source required resources
Check tools during and after task completion, identifying and reporting defects
Measure and test, check and inspect - for example, use of micrometers, verniers, multimeters, volt meters
Apply improvement techniques, recommending/implementing solutions where appropriate
Report work outcomes and issues
Dispose of waste in accordance with waste streams, re-cycling/re-using where appropriate
Operate in line with quality, health and safety and environmental policy and procedures, identifying risks and hazards and identifying control measures where applicable
Training:
We’ll work closely with your college to review your progress at regular intervals, providing feedback and guiding your development. You’ll have a tailored personalised plan that ensures you have appropriate support and training. The majority of your learning will be on the job, with off-the-job training and one-to-one tutoring. You’ll also complete Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering competency and technical knowledge qualifications.
Training Outcome:
You may choose to specialise in a field that you were most interested in throughout the programme. You could improve your skills set by taking on new training.
