SSE Thermal Technical Apprentice - (August 2025 Intake)

You will be combining academic study (20%) with work-based experience (80%).  You will be supported throughout your programme by a wide number of colleagues including mentors, Learning and Talent support staff and business operational colleagues. You will be provided with on the job training and supported by our academic training partners.  Hands On Experience: As a Technical Apprentice, you’ll be part of an expert team. You’ll gain invaluable problem-solving skills and develop the technical expertise needed to become a qualified Technician. On the Job Training: Alongside attending college you'll undertake hands-on work-based learning, where you’ll apply your academic knowledge in real-world settings.  Working alongside experienced professionals, you’ll develop key technical skills, tackle practical challenges, and gain invaluable industry experience.  Future Career: By the end of the programme, you'll have developed the expertise and confidence to take the next step in your career as a qualified Technician. Flexibility: You’ll be site-based. Please note further Location of Atwick / Aldbrough for this role. 

Training:
This is a 4-year programme (1st year at a partner college) and remaining 3 years at an SSE Thermal site, with college day release working towards, NVQ, B-Tech and HNC. The majority of our apprentices attend college on a block release basis and can be away from home for short periods of time.

Training Outcome:

By the end of your apprenticeship, you will have formal qualifications and accreditations that will offer you the opportunity to build a rewarding and successful career in the energy sector.

Working Hours :
Monday to Friday split between College and on-site work. TBC.
